No Rest, No Peace

Sleep should be peaceful

Which is why the phrase

Rest in peace came to be

But, sleep is almost never peaceful for me

Time spent with family members who have passed

Nights filled with visual hurt and pain

Vivid pictures replaying over and over again

Exhausted from constantly trying to change the vision

Eyes open for hours staring at the ceiling

They call them night terrors

Maybe because you can't shake the feeling

PTSD can you catch the feeling

Never really able to understand the meaning

Just wrecks your peace and interrupts your sleep

Insomnia you harsh manipulating beast

I just want to sleep

I just need for you to leave me be
